Hillside Music Festival Ontario

Hillside began in 1984 as local gathering of musical friends in Guelph, Ontario. Today, it is one of Canada’s best-loved music festivals with over 50 musical performances on five stages over three days during the last weekend in July.

Held at Guelph Lake conservation area on an “island” connected to the mainland by a narrow causeway, the festival is anchored by the Hillside Community permanent main stage, a dramatic outdoor performance space with a living roof and gracefully arched acoustical wooden ceiling.

Hillside is renowned for its artistic lineup, a flavourful blend of up-and-coming Canadian performers, world artists, and local talent. The program is always richly diverse and highly entertaining.

While music is the focus, the Hillside experience also includes:

  • Spoken word
  • Hand drumming
  • Aboriginal circle
  • Children’s activities and events
  • International food pavilion
  • Artisan Market
  • Healing arts workshops
  • Environmental expo
  • Youth tent
  • Community workshops

Hillside is a not-for-profit corporation, administered by a board of directors, a small year-round staff, and more than 1,000 volunteers.
